Los Angeles—Believe it or not, Ryan Phillippe is walking on air. He never thought he could feel so free. The “actor,” who has miraculously appeared in some Hollywood films, but is way more well-known as the lucky bastard who used to be married to Reese Witherspoon, apparently has been cast at Ralph Hinkley in the film version of TV’s “The Greatest American Hero.”
The program, which ran on ABC from 1981 to 1983, originally had William Katt as the titular role of a superhero whom aliens leave a suit with superpowers, but who loses the instruction manual to the suit and hilariously discovers its secrets on his own as he fights crime in California.
Flying away on a wing and a prayer, who could the director be? Believe it or not, it’s reportedly the main reason Phillippe wanted to don the suit: “Transformers” auteur Michael Bay.
