“Everything Comes To The Surface At One Point:” A TDQ Q&A With Model And Actress Amelia Charme, Part 2

Amelia Charme

TDQ: What have you found is the biggest misconception people outside of modeling have about you and the industry?

Charme: That modeling is easy. People don’t understand that there are mental and physical skills that must be developed to excel in modeling. Not every pretty face or nice body can do it. You have to be mentally strong to accept rejection and confident in yourself to be around other beautiful women. You also have to be physically capable. You need to know what your body looks like in different positions and be able to remember it, execute it and make sure your face doesn’t show you’re concentrating or thinking about it.

TDQ: What’s been the most surprising thing you’ve learned about a career in modeling?

Charme: I learned that this industry is the king of scams. There is always someone that is trying to get a few bucks out of you or some perv trying to get in your pants. Everything that you do has to be done with caution and consideration, especially when you are first starting out.

TDQ: Where do you see yourself in five years?

Charme: I see myself in a major film. Like a Tyler Perry movie. In five years I will be at the end of my modeling prime, so I hope that acting will be completely dominant at that time.

TDQ: Tell us about Model Mayhem

Charme: Model Mayhem is like a Facebook for the modeling industry. This is where you can connect with models, photographers, makeup artist, etc. all on one site. It has really helped me in my career. I don’t know how Tyra did it without the Internet! I wouldn’t know what to do.

At The Daily Quarterly we feel the human body is nothing to be ashamed of. However Standards and Practices (the mothers of our main demographic – males aged 9 to 13) have asked that we not show any photos that were too provocative. We caved to their demands and made some of Amelia Charme’s photos more conservative. Just for fun we included the original so you could appreciate the hard work that went into it.

TDQ: Quick: Tyra Banks or Brooklyn Decker?

Charme: Tyra banks of course!

TDQ: Are you on Twitter? If yes, why aren’t you following @dailyquarterly?

Charme: Yes I am on twitter but I hardly use it. I just started putting time into it recently. I mainly use instagram because I love pictures. My twitter and instagram is amelia_charme88. I’m not following you guys because I don’t use it but I’ll get on it right away and start. You guys are a great source of news.

TDQ: You’re from Chicago. How do you like the Bears’ chances this year?

Charme: I’m going to be 100% honest with you. I have absolutely no interest in football at all. Now, if you asked me about the Bulls I could say they may be out of luck. Rose is the whole team and he got that injury that pretty much sealed his fate. He’s back doing his thing but he’s not the same. I wish them the best, but it is what it is.

TDQ: Better source of news using social media? The Daily Quarterly on Facebook or @dailyquarterly on Twitter?

Charme: Well, coming from someone who never really used her Twitter until recently and hardly uses her Facebook, I would have to go with Facebook. But seeing how Twitter is set up and how easy it is to get information from people, once I start using it regularly I’d go with twitter.

TDQ: You’re welcome for our time
