The Daily Quarterly: Who was your favorite fashion designer growing up?

DaMarcus Morton: As always, Kimora Lee Simmons…love her work ethic and style.

TDQ: What made you want to be a fashion designer?

Morton: I’m not sure, it was just one of those interest that was deeply rooted but now it’s at the surface.

TDQ: What’s the best advice you’ve ever gotten?

Morton: “Never use your powers for evil” I was told that when I was 18 discovering life. I now understand the power I have, that we all have.

TDQ: What’s the worst advice you’ve ever gotten?

Morton: I’d say the worst advice I’ve been given is “never trust anyone.”

TDQ: Tell us about the JuSt LuV campaign

Morton: JuSt LuV, in partnership with the Los Angeles Youth Network, is our campaign to support the homeless youth population Los Angeles. There are way too many children growing up in the streets and it’s a lot easier and cheaper to help than people realize.

TDQ: Who are your influences?

Morton: My grandmother and my mother. Two strong women that I admire. My grandmother was of service to others the majority of her life helping anyway she could. My other showed me how to be accepting and strong.

TDQ: Tell us about your company, LUVDBYMENY

DaMarcus Morton

Here’s a The Daily Quarterly fashion tip: clothes look better on you when you are in excellent physical shape as exemplified by DaMarcus Morton.

Morton: That is my t shirt line which represents living your life and not being a victim to other’s negativity. Our brand is your message to the world!

TDQ: What’s your goal for LUVDBYMENY for the next five years?

Morton: I certainly plan on extending the line into more accessories, underwear etc. We want LuV’d By MENy to be a household brand.

TDQ: Quick: Stephen Burrows or Bryon Lars?

Morton: Stephen Burrows!

TDQ: You’re from Akron, and you left and took your talents out west. Can you ever see a time when LeBron James will be able to show his face in Akron?

Morton: I just left Akron, it sounds like they are still a little upset so it may be a while!
