In a press release, FOX said, in part, “From the producers who brought you ‘Who Wants to Marry a Multi-Millionaire’ and ‘The Simple Life’ comes a brand new, groundbreaking reality show, ‘Under Cover Spouse!’ It’s one part ‘Wife Swap,’ one part ‘Under Cover Boss’ and all parts fun!”
The premise, as FOX painfully explained it, will be that either a husband or wife will dress up in disguise and pose as a new co-worker of their significant other. A film crew will follow them around during the work day and record the “unsuspecting spouse dishing, and sometimes dissing!” on their spouse.
The program will be 90 minutes long, and is tentatively slated to be scheduled against CBS program “NCIS” and half of “NCIS: Los Angeles.”
“We’re confident that this is the program that can consistently go head to head each week with the long-running Navy drama,” the FOX statement said. “And we could conceivably foresee this show leading to other spin-offs as well, such as ‘Celebrity Under Cover Spouse’ and ‘Under Cover Spouse: Miami.’”
Producers said they are hoping to land Larry King as the host, but are not 100% confident they can lure him out of semi-retirement. As a backup, they have a scheduled meeting next week with Ryan O’Neal.
The couple that was filmed last November for the pilot has since separated, and the husband has allegedly hired a divorce lawyer, though no divorce papers have been filed to date. Neither the husband nor the wife would discuss their experience on the show with The Daily Quarterly.
But a FOX executive who asked that we not name her insisted that the marriage was irrevocably broken long before the network came along. “We aren’t on the hook for that one,” she said. “I sleep just fine at night.”
Sounds like another well-thought out reality winner for FOX!

Once again the BRAINS behind networks can find nothing new. Where are the new MAKE ROOM FOR DADDY creators?? Or perhaps MY MOTHER THE CAR ?? TV history , gone with the dinosaurs.
